Lacsa is the flag carrier and national airline of Costa Rica, Founded in 1945 by Pan American World Airways and the Costa Rican Government. Today flying under the TACA logo, Lacsa is headquartered in San Jose Costa Rica. TACA is the collective name given to 5 Central American and Peruvian Airlines, all independently named and IATA coded brought together to fly under one name, TACA. Originally founded in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 1931, Grupo TACA today is headquartered in San Salvador, El Salvador with its main hubs located at Comalapa International Airport, San Salvador, El Salvador, Juan Santamaria International Airport, San Jose Costa Rica and Jorge Chavez International Airport Lima, Peru.
The airlines making up TACA Airlines, are, Aviateca of Guatemala, Lacsa of Costa Rica, Islena Airlines of Honduras, NICA of Nicaragua and TACA Peru of Peru. In October 2009 TACA and Avianca announced the merger of their 2 airlines yet flying under their respected names.
TACA is a subsidiary of parent company, Synergy Group, which also owns OceanAir in Brazil, Avianca, SAM and Tampa Cargo in Colombia, AeroGal and VIP in Ecuador, Capital Airlines in Nigeria and Grupo TACA and its subsidiaries.
Today Lacsa has a fleet of 14 aircraft and serves 21 destinations, with extensive coverage throughout South America, North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
